RAFA Racing Team captured its first-ever victory in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Bronze Cup this weekend at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, with Rafael Martinez and Jim Jonsin in victory lane aboard the No. 12 Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2.

“Our first win here in IMSA is pretty incredible for Jim and I,” said Martinez. “It was a tough race—we had a little slow start with a radio issue, and then at the end, some drama with Jim getting taken out. 

“But fortunately, we were a lap up on the competition, and he was able to bring it home. So pretty awesome.”

Martinez had never turned a lap at Laguna Seca prior to the weekend, making the result all the more meaningful.

“This is the first time being at this track,” he said. “I didn’t get a chance to do a test or a practice run or anything. So to do it at such an iconic track, in challenging conditions, and with strong competition—it was pretty cool. Awesome.”

The win marks a major milestone for Martinez, Jonsin and RAFA Racing Team who debuted in the championship this year at Daytona International Speedway.
